** ASCENSION. 7305, Feb 16 at 0528, B-B-C- chimes, S9+10/20, 0529
sign-on in Hausa, mentions of Nigeria, 125 kW at 27 degrees; weaker
than 7285 also Ascension, in English, 125 kW at 65 degrees. 7305 adds
another semihour in French at 0600 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** BRAZIL. 6180 S9+30 // much weaker 11780, Mon Feb 16 at 0748, token
English already on RNA, yet another ep about samba schools, something
about 80th anniversary in April, and a parade. YL voice accented so
not AI this time; 0754 into Spanish. Enough about samba schools
already: can we get on to some significant current events? (Glenn
Hauer, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 9710, Mon Feb 16 at 0524, surprised to hear French talking
about Cuba, S9+10/20. And at 0542, fraxured French = Kriyol. NOT known
times for these langs on RHC which this must be. Meanwhile, a JBA
carrier on 11760.
RHC website has a new look, and apparently deleted any info about SW
broadcasts! The programming page showing timeblox is mostly blank:
https://www.radiohc.cu/programacion/
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 11880, Mon Feb 16 at 1935 into Knoxville SDR, RHC Kriyol
S8/S9 into Knoxville SDR, and // weaker and windhowly 15140. English
sometimes follows at 2000 but usual cut to dead air just before then.
Next check at 1955: yes, already DA. Something`s always wrong at RHC
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** ECUADOR. 6050, Feb 16 at 0535, HCJB is stiil on, but no +/- 12~ kHz
spurs detectable this time. After 0600 this would be clashing with
coreligionists at ELWA Liberia (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** MEXICO. 1700 kHz, Feb 16 at 0754,``Escuchas tu DN Radio``, so must
be XEPE Tecate BCN, 10/10 kW, not one of the Texans. This is a sports
format, but what means DN? Deportes Nacionales? (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)
** NORTH AMERICA. 7475 AM, Feb 16 at 0530, thintonations of Josiah on
Station YHWH, S9+10 undermodulated direct (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** TURKEY. 9650, Feb 16 at 0526 Turkish music S9+10/20. Good frequency
for VOT aimed thisaway, 250 kW, 310 degrees at 04-07 in Turkish only
unless Englished by mistake (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 293 MCW kHz, Feb 16 at 0719 UT, UI, JBA undermixing with FBY
FairBurY NE, i.e. qUIncy IL. Is it really on the left bank of the
Miss? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2334 monitoring: confirmed Sunday
February 15 at 2021 the 2000 on IRRS SW via AM Italia, 1322.997,
S9+10/15 into nearby Noale SDR.
Also confirmed Sunday February 15 at 2109 the 2100 on WRN Europe
stream.
Also confirmed Sunday February 15 at 2255 the 2230 on SW Radio Gold,
Germany, 3975.002-, VP S8/S9 into Utwente. [I know a very poor rating
yet S8/S9 may seem strange, but considering all things, noise level,
etc.]
Also confirmed Sunday February 15 at 2330 on WRMI 9455, S9+25 into
Knoxville SDR; interrupted Israeli music fill.
Also confirmed UT Monday February 16 at 0000 on WRMI 9395, S9+10 into
Knoxville SDR.
Also confirmed UT Monday February 16 at 0030 on WRMI 7780, S9 direct
but noisy.
Also confirmed UT Monday February 16 from 0403 on Area 51 webcast;
this week JL ran slightly over on 5130- WBCQ which has to chop to
s/off at 0400 sharp. W. C. Fields had a comment just before me. Next:
2030 UT Monday SW Radio, Germany 3975;
0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to SW;
1400 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast];
1500 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast];
2100 UT Tuesday IRRS SW via AM Italia 1323;
0030 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975;
0130 UT Wednesday WRMI 9395 to NNW;
2030 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975;
2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW;
0030 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW;
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S;
1730 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160.
Thanks this week to Michael Beu, Austin TX, for a contribution via
PayPal in US funds but not necessarily, to woradio at yahoo.com and
says, ``Hey Glenn: Thanks for providing a valuable resource for DXers.
Have a great 2026``
One may also contribute by MO or check on a US bank to
Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 5950, Feb 16 at 0532, this WRMI is off, unlike last night
when it was still on past 0730 with WOR (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 7780, 7570, 5850, Feb 16 at 0717, classical music on WRMIs
but 5950 is off. Presumably a Sunday program of DW as sked on WRN
relay, rather than `Encore` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 7505, Feb 16 at 0531, S9+10/20 but fadey, undermod talk, in
Hindi? from WRNO (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 660 kHz, Feb 16 at 0608 UT, strong S9+10 C&W tune, ``Highway
Robbery``, then KTNN ID in English, from Window Rock, Tohatchi and one
other town in coverage area in rotation; S9+10 and stronger than 650
WSM. Obviously not nulling toward NYC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** VANUATU. 9960, Feb 16 at 0522, no signal from R. Vanuatu which Ron
Howard reported reactivated here, but apparently switching earlier
than before to 7260. On Feb 15 via NZ remote, Ron was hearing 9960 at
0315, but by 0530 they were already on 7260. Walt Salmaniw had 7260 at
0658, but did they then QSY again? No, Manuel M?ndez, Spain, still had
7260 at 0817 Feb 15 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** VATICAN. 15490, Feb 16 at 1524, S5/S7 in S Asian song. It`s VR in
Malayalam at 1510-1530 from SMG, preceded by 1430-1510 Hindi & Tamil.
Hardly any other 19mb signals between 15150 WMLK and 15770 WRMI, as VR
again penetrates NAm even when aimed far away (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
UNIDENTIFIED. 1130 kHz, Feb 16 at 0602 UT, song in Spanish, better on
E/W loop than N/S shortwire. Cheater KLEY Wellington KS apparently
off, while English talk presumably KWKH. NRC AM Log shows SS in AL,
CA, GA, SC, TN, TX -- all supposedly daytimers, except KSDO San Diego
U4 10/10 kW, CP U4 5000/300 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** MEXICO. 1170, Feb 16 at 0605 UT, Mex NA, then other music, on N/S
shortwire only, assisted by fade of KOTV Tulsa to the east. Only two
XEs on 1170, more likely XERT Reynosa Tams, daytimer at night, than
XECSEJ Aguascalientes2, only a CP as of 2023y (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
UNIDENTIFIED. 1310 kHz, Feb 16 at 0555 UT, choral Mex NA is playing
until 0600, then no Spanish, may have turned off or faded out. There
are 7 XEs on 1310 in IRCA Mexican Log, 5 of them 24h. At bottom is a
separate roster of stations showing how and when they play the NA, but
none of them fit this just before 0600 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
UNIDENTIFIED. 1350 kHz, Feb 16 at 0554 UT, ``La Onda Chicana``, then
call ID in English could not copy except ending in -AM, and Mexmx.
Surely a US not Mexican, but no such slogan listed in NRC AM Log.
Broad search implies the expression applies to a sub?genre, not an ID.
Most likely is `Tejano` KXTN San Antonio TX, U2 5/5 kW (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)
UNIDENTIFIED. 1441.67 approx., Feb 16 at 0552 UT, JBA carrier again
hetting 1440s (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
UNIDENTIFIED. 1460.34 approx., Feb 16 at 0550 UT, JBA carrier hetting
1460s. Nothing further off than 1460.02 at mwoffsets (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)
UNIDENTIFIED. 1710 kHz, Feb 16 at 0545 UT, JBA carrier; EiBi has been
hearing a pirate there in Alabama, but no doubt other pirates and
HAR/TIS exist (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
UNIDENTIFIED. 5036 USB, Feb 16 at 0537, 2-way in colloquial Spanish,
barely far enough from 5025 Rebelde which is not off the air (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** ARGENTINA [and non]. LU8EGG, Feb 16 at 2313, colliding with KM6AUX,
not hearing each other. QRZ.com: ``LU8EGG Argentina flag Argentina,
Gabriel Godoy, Moreno 1744, Argentina`` but says he is in BsAs; and
``KM6AUX USA flag USA, Gerhard "Gary" Stofer, 1753 Landana Dr,
Concord, CA 94519, USA`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** ARGENTINA [non]. 9455, Mon Feb 16 at 2300, WRMI S9+40 relay of R.
Nacional, with 2-minute newscast, i.e. domestic station rather than
RAE in Chinese, Japanese, Portuguese or Spanish. 2304 IDs for some FM
stations and AMs on 910, 780. WRTH shows three on 910, one on 780.
Continued with more Spanish. What`s next? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** COLOMBIA. In NRC IDXD, ed. Bruce Conti replies to my log of HJAT on
1100.29: ``The high offset of this transmitter has a long history,
reported at 1100.3 in the Sept 18, 1994 edition of IDXD - DX News
V61-30``
Also about the 1309.67 offset of HJAK I also reported, Bruce replies:
``Another Colombia offset with a long history, 1309.678 in the old
online mwoffsets list, last updated October 2014`` (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)
** CUBA. Replies to my comments about RHC and its website:
https://www.radiohc.cu/programacion/
``The website calendar that link above shows has been a work in (not
much) progress for some time. If you like puzzles, you can try to play
some of the English-language podcasts being archived here....
ENGLISH-LANGUAGE PROGRAMMING / February 15, 2026 - Radio Habana Cuba
https://www.radiohc.cu/en/podcast/english-language-programming-february-15-2026/
In fairness, Cuba has no monopoly on user-challenging shortwave
websites, but they have not stopped producing content, maybe just
recalibrating what's terrestrial and what isn't. The Spanish language
service had already been using the tag line "Cuba Online" for a while.
The new website configuration is aiming at archiving several days of
programming. I don't objectively know that terrestrial is being
discontinued, but archiving days at a time could prove to be a plus
under the circumstances. ps - Ivoox is a podcast/radio app that is
extremely popular in Spain.
I grew up with RHC in a manner of speaking - even before I knew a word
of Spanish, the music was already speaking to me. Willis Conover's
jazz programs had a similar effect on listeners in numerous countries.
So yeah, it's painful to watch the station's problems, but it is the
least of their worries at the moment. --Bill Tilford``, Indiana.
``Somehow I doubt that the picture on this page
https://www.radiohc.cu/en/about-us/
is anything more than a repurposed stock image.
As I have said before -- I have really deep feelings about RHC.
Setting aside all the political ramblings, they have great potential
to tell Cuba's history, to tell Cuba's story. The same goes for R
Rebelde and R Progreso. The represent a soft power, propagandising,
but doing so in a way that can't help but enamor one to the people and
the culture of Cuba -- and almost in a sense binding those feelings to
their struggles and wish for freedom - a freedom in their terms -- not
those of the USA, Russia or China.
The economic crisis has been just another nail in a coffin hand
crafted by el blocqueo. Nonetheless, if sacrificing the voice of RHC
means electrical power and the like for the Cuban people, the so be
it. Tony Pavick`` in BC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** JAMAICA [and non]. 28555 USB, Feb 16 at 2315, working UStations,
but I don`t hear him mentioning his own call until 2319! QRZ.com:
``6Y5CB Jamaica flag Jamaica, Will exchange QSL cards with a
contribution to help with postage, Causland J "Scorpio" Burnett,
Flower Hill, Salt Spring PO, Montego Bay, Jamaica`` I was expecting
the Japanese guy on his favorite frequency; rarely any USB phones
higher than this in mostly vacant band (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** MEXICO. 28182+ CW, Feb 16 at 2307, VVV XE1RCS/B EK09 and dash.
Still missing from WGB roster of beacons. See my prevous logs of Oct 7
and Mar 31, 2025. Also logged every year since 2022; he ubicates
himself in Puebla per QRZ.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** SPAIN. 17755, Feb 16 at 2300, still no signal from REE, its most
dispensable frequency anyway for us, aimed south at Africa and always
weakest. The others are VG in non-English on non-Wednesday, 17715,
12030, 9690 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** TURKEY. 5960, Feb 16 at 2258, no signal yet direct from VOT
English; but then at 2303 it`s on at insufficient S9 (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)
** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2334 monitoring: confirmed Monday
February 16 at 2030 on SW Radio Gold, Germany, 3975, JBA at UTwente,
but S8/S9 into Bedford UK recommended SDR. Next:
0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to SW;
1400 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast];
1500 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast];
2100 UT Tuesday IRRS SW via AM Italia 1323;
0030 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975;
0130 UT Wednesday WRMI 9395 to NNW;
2030 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975;
2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW;
0030 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW;
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S;
1730 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160.

One may also contribute by MO or check on a US bank to
Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** URUGUAY. 28397 USB, Feb 16 at 2308, CX7RM, Pablo in southern U,
working UStations such as unheard K5EHT. QRZ.com: ``CX7RM Uruguay flag
Uruguay, Pablo Goldaracena Sommaruga, Pinares Calle Sagitario, Punta
del Este 20005, Uruguay`` with variety of illustrations: antennas,
equipment, scenery, people/family, pet, certificates (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)
UNIDENTIFIED. 25955 LSB, Feb 16 at 2305, 2-way, or multi-way, in
Brasuguese with beeps, reverb, as if this be CB in Brazil. Our CB 27+
MHz piling up, and also deep SAms on 10m (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
