** OKLAHOMA. Re: [WOR] GOP gubernatorial candidates disagree on OETA
extension

``Oh man, how can cancellation of OETA even be a "thing" AT ALL???
That is so sad, that such a move would even be considered. Public TV
is so important, and I don't see how it's even possible to disparage
its existence.

My opinion is VERY strong on this, even though Oklahoma is one of
probably 48 U. S. states I will never live in. (Of course I live in
Illinois, and I can't entirely rule out that I COULD potentially,
though not likely, end up in New Jersey. Nothing else is on the radar
at all.) OETA's survival-or-not, will affect my way of life no more
than the color of the Toyota that drove by about ten minutes ago (when
I wasn't even looking), but it still hurts, REALLY hurts, to see this
being considered.

OK, so there may be the occasional LGBTQ+ character on a Britcom or
some other program, or the concept may even come up in some sort of
documentary. What's wrong with that? There are hordes-and-more of
programs that showcase cisgendered/binary ("straight") people
EVERYWHERE. Funny thing, nobody complains about THAT type of
gender/orientation display.

A shutdown of OETA would be more than enough to turn the entire state
into a place to be PITIED...please, this cannot happen.

I may even end up writing to some of the politicians or influencers
involved, and I'm a very busy guy (even now at nearly 79) who, like,
NEVER has time for that. I've never been a fan of Oklahoma, but that
changes NOTHING, and I'm actually very happy and reassured that I care
about what choices Oklahomans have. Those feelings confirm to me that
I'm still fully in touch with my faculties, and a robust sense of
ethics and altruism.
