** DOMINICAN REPUBLIC. 18140 USB, June 12 at 2224, HI100RCD making
quick contacts without mentioning own call for a couple minutes, just
the contact call and RS reading, like a contest, then QRZ? I maintain
that the *minimum* requirement for a valid contact should be uttering
at least once, the contact`s call and your own call! Anyhow this is
obviously a special event call as there are unlikely to be 100 call
areas in the DR: ``HI100RCD Dominican Republic flag Dominican
Republic, RADIO CLUB DOMINICANO, INC 100 ANNIVERSARY, P.O. BOX 1151,
SANTO DOMINGO, DN 10101, Dominican Republic, from Jun 01 to Jun 15,
2026. This was after hearing zero activity on the 28, 24 and 21 MHz
bands. Said was about to QSY to 20m (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** MALI [and non]. 5995, June 13 at 0635, ORTM not off the air; also
unusually some RTTY INTRUDER circa 6003 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** MEXICO. Not much Es FM activity on the DXMAPs earlier June 12 but
suddenly, high MUF paths to Mexico. So I start tuning in the car at
2326 UT. At 2328, 92.1 has Spanish ads in pesos, mention Mazatl?n,
2330 government PSA about pensiones from C?mara de Diputados, 2332
Spotify plug, and La Lupe FM ID, finally a song; it is:
XHPMAZ-FM 92.1 MAZATL?N SIN ADULT HITS LA LUPE 801426 25.0 kW 99.1 m
23-12-04 106-25-37 Spanish HD 9210 1658 km/1030 stmi
Scanning entire band the only other hint of DX is traces of Spanish on
93.1 at 2333 & 2338, likely another Mazatl?n station:
XHMZT-FM 93.1 MAZATL?N SIN CLASSIC HITS RADIO DISNEY 800316 50.0 kW
161.0 m 23-12-05 106-25-38 Spanish
Give up by 2355 in time for AAAWWW check on WBCQ, except also see unID
carriers (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, WOR)
** TURKEY. 11785, June 12 at 2220, VOT is on with JBA carrier but
totally unusable direct with heavy splash from 11780 Brasil.
Something`s always awry at Ankara in the frequency management
department! Weakest link (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5085.000, June 13 at *0059, WTWW cuts on the air with open
carrier, good signal direct and accurate into Maryland remote, but
still dead air past 0148, when I am about to inquire whether they be
aware of modulation lacking? Hope it`s talkative by 0300 for WORLD OF
RADIO. Aha, just as I am writing this at 0149, a few words are heard,
pause, a few more, but back to DA. Maybe they are trying to modulate
unless it`s random. No, cut carrier at 0152* Now, what? *0205 back on,
0212 keeps modulating. It was a bad patch cord or something. Ops
normal by WOR time 0300, q.v. (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 7490 -73 Hz = 7489.927, June 13 at 0000, WBCQ opening
`AAAWWW` with `WTO`, interjecting ``Yes, we are real, we`re not
Memorex, ladies & Gentlemen...`` Sounds familiar, yes, keyword Memorex
leads to my log of March 28 which was a repeat of March 21. Never
mind. 5130 -~90 Hz = 5129.910 also on, but none of the others. I was
listening first via NH SDR, which was reading about 50 Hz too low, so
these figures were computed at 0029 into Maryland remote after
confirming it was calibrated almost accurately with a slight correxion
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 15555 USB, June 13 at 1814, assertive gospel huxter, VP but
more signal than 15770 WRMI during poor propagation conditions. WJHR
in FL of course. First time traced in many weeks of random daytime
bandscans, suspected off the air, but underpowered, far less than 50
kW minimum supposedly required for US SW stations. Maybe benefiting
from a bit of a sporadic-E boost now. Nominal sked is 1358-2200 daily
per EiBi. Per FCC A26: 1400-2200 daily ``50`` kW at 5 degrees.
Reception here also difficultized by a persistent birdie near the
frequency (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
UNIDENTIFIED. After a bit of Es FM DX from MEXICO, q.v., I notice some
dead air/open carriers, June 12 at 2343, 2349 and 2354 UT on 97.5,
full quieting in mono. Maybe an idle RF feeder in some parked vehicle
out of sight, but why pick right next to a local on 97.7? Ordinarily
KMOD Tulsa would be fringely audible on 97.5 but this is rock-steady.
And June 12 at 2352 UT, on 93.5 there is some dead air in $tereo with
fading, so not exactly local (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, WOR)
This report dispatched at 1841 UT June 13
