Today with WJHR not heard I measured the birdie on 15557.1 - by birdie I
assumed it was something local rather than propagating. Glenn

I just checked and I have WJHR Milton Florida on 15555 khz USB putting a
reasonable (for them) signal as I type this (2125 UT). But -- as he reported
there is a birdie at 15556.3, so you have to really go narrow on your
bandwidth. Still, though a shouty preacher is audible

** OKLAHOMA. 91.1, June 13 at 1850 UT, FMDX bandscan notices that 91.1
Air1 in Enid, KKRD is off the air, presumably some problem at the
downtown antenna farm atop the decrepit Broadway Tower. See USA for
what else be audiblized. By 1444 check June 14, KKRD is reactivated
(Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)
** OKLAHOMA. 91.7, June 13-14 and earlier random tunesacross, notice
KOSU in MONO even when playing music during evening & overnight ``The
Spy`` hours. It`s normally mono all day during NPR talk programming;
forgot to turn on $tereo, or deliberate? When I operated KOSU long
ago, switched back and forth as required (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)
** OKLAHOMA [and non]. Lacking Es FM DX except 87.75 unID, some
anomalies in bandscanning, June 14 at 0255-0308 UT, maybe blamable on
bad weather:
89.7, at 0255 dead air from almost-local The House, KJTH Ponca City;
then at 0256, modulation starts but it is breaking up severely; OK by
0308.
99.1 at 0305, `K-Love` with Jesus song, i.e. KTLI 100 kW El Dorado

101.7 at 0306, instrumental hymn, from `Keeping Ready Expecting
Jesus`, KREJ Medicine Lodge KS, is in MONO, like always its sibling on
91.5 Smile FM KSNS; neither specified as such in the WTFDA FM DB.
105.5 at 0307, besides 91.1 in Enid, the translator on 105.5 is also
off, but I don`t think from same site, audiblizing ``Cowboy Country``,
``red-dirt-Texas!`` stuff, $tereo rock?, but it`s really KGFY 4.2 kW
Stillwater, the successor to KVRO which was the student station at OSU
when I was there sesquidecades ago at the pro-station KOSU. By 1444
check June 14, both 105.5 and 91.1 in Enid are reactivated (Glenn
Hauser, Enid, WOR)

email messages ([email protected]) confirming that you can hear my
10-meter CW Beacon on the coordinated frequency of 28.2750 MHz. The
KA7TXS/B Beacon is "On the Air" 24 hours a day. The Beacon runs 5

drop me a note if you hear it. It would also be great if you could
sign my "WEB" visitor page here on QRZ!
10 Meter Beacon: My 10 Meter Beacon (28.2750 MHz) is a custom-made

a PLL chip, a VCO, a crystal reference, and a microcontroller. AA7DJ
builds and programs these very nice beacons. You provide the power
(12-13.8vdc) and an antenna. Mine is connected to an A-99 10-meter

Propagation Beacons -- To help discover band openings, the NSRC has
operated a propagation beacon on 28.297 MHz since 2001. It is located
at the Heller Nature Center in Highland Park, IL about 27 miles north
of downtown Chicago. The beacon was built from a Radio Shack HTX-100
running 5 watts to a Cushcraft AR-10 half wave vertical. CW message
keying is performed by an Ultimate PicoKeyer. The 10M band is open a
lot more often than you may think, even during periods of low sunspot
activity, so be sure to check the beacon section of the band between
28.200 and 28.300 regularly, you may be pleasantly surprised with what
you hear. Over the years we have received reception reports from over
30 countries and every continent except Antarctica.
The club also operates a CW 6M beacon on 50.072 MHz which is
co-located with the 10M beacon. It was put on the air in January 2023
and was built by AA7DJ. It runs about 6 watts out to a halo antenna at
20 ft. As with the 10M band, be sure to check the 6M beacon section
between 50.060 and 50.080. Reception reports on our beacons are always
welcome and QSL cards are available. Please send your report to KK9H``

** U S A. 15770, UT Sun June 14 at 0125, I run across some good jazz
music, S9+20/30 on WRMI-9 including some drum solos; 0127 DJ invites
reports to [email protected] or
patreon.com/davetucker, 0131 talks about ragtime a.k.a. stride piano.
The only place I find this on the skedgrid is atop on System J, UT Sun
only, otherwise Supreme Master TV. But there *is no* separate System J
grid like all the others. By 0143, 15770 has faded down into increased
storm noise level, S9+10/20. Why doesn`t WRMI use 11 or 13 MHz bands
at all?? Would certainly work better at many times especially in the
summer than all those 5, 6, 7 and 9 MHz banders.
Tuning on, I soon hit another good music show on 9455 // 7570, `Hello
World` -- too bad they are on at same time, and also `Encore`
classical music to boot on 5850!
Of course several other times for Encore are well publicized.
Searching the grid, I also find Early Jazz at: 0100 UT Thu on 9955,
2100 Thu on 15770, 0300 Fri on 5950.
Lots of: Hello World: 0600 Fri & Sat on 5850 ?and 7730 & 7780?, Mon
2100 on 9955, Wed & Fri 2300 on 9955, Tue thru Sat 0200 on 5800, Sun
1300 on 15770, Wed 0500 on 5850, Wed 1600 on 15770, Fri 0200 on 9395:
Sun 0100 on 7570 & 9455, when I ran across it; Mon thru Fri 2300 on
15770; Tue & Wed & Thu 0300 on 5950 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 91.1, June 13 at 1858 UT, weak gospel huxter JBA, some rock
music, 1859 g.h. again and ID as ``91.1 KCFN Wichita`` - it`s a 100 kW
AFN station never audible otherwise around Enid when KKRD on. I was
hoping for the other Kansan, KANZ Garden City, 100 kW High Plains
Public Radio.
91.3 is now unimpeded by KKRD off 91.1, so June 13 at 1900 I hear an
AFR station starting a Middle East Report, i.e. KAXR Arkansas City KS,
13.5 kW. No Es DX by 1911 when I quit this session (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)
UNIDENTIFIED. 50135 USB, June 14 at 0116, I seldom tune 6m on the R75
since I don`t have a VHF antenna on it, but anyway, hit a few sex of
USB; kept waiting for a comeback and finally sounded like K5KI, and
gone again hyperquickly. Sporadic E may well be in play but perhaps a
local Enid signal. QRZ.com leads to this, but I am not at all sure I
got the call correctly, and unlikely to be heard, too far for GW, to
close for skip: ``K5KI USA flag USA, Jani Turkia, 258 S Coker Rd,
Vilonia, AR 72173, USA`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
UNIDENTIFIED. 87.75, June 14 at 0255 UT, rock music the only sign of
some sporadic E FM DX, as I strain to hear some beyond the edge of a
minor opening from the east or northeast? A Franken-FM. I assume not
really 87.70 since it`s bleeding a bit into 87.9, my next tuning step.
Also have been wondering if these all be 87.75 exactly, when original
TV stations may have been offset to 87.74 or 87.76. FWIW, WTFDA FMDB
lists 14 -LDs on ``87.7`` in these states: CA, CA, NY, IL, FL, CA, CO,
GA, VA, VA, TN, CA, NV, NY (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)
