Thanks this week to Henry Blackwood, who sent two contributions in US
funds but not necessarily via PayPal to woradio at yahoo.com
One may also contribute by money order or check on a US bank to Glenn
Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 9930, June 25 at 1849, WTWW is unusually off; propagation OK
as neighbor WWCR is blasting as usual on 12160 & 13845. During much of
the daytime, 9930 is the SSOB by far if not the OSOB (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)
** U S A. 5085, UT Sat June 26 at 0107 check, 5085 WTWW is on, so WOR
at 0300 is possible; hope it`s the right episode, #2353. Bob Biermann
assures me the correct one is loaded on his feed, if they use it
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. Pre-`AAAWWW` chex of WBCQs, June 26 at 2358: 5130 on with
open carrier, and 7490 with FKB, no others, and I listen via stream.
June 27 at 0000 `WTO` theme and talkovers: ``Get blastin```, ``OK,
ladies & gentlemen, all we need is a radio...`` ``It`s the week before
Independence Day`` - so this is a new one. A&A are together for a
change back in Fla. 0009 mandatory insults to Democrats as Dumbocrats,
Communists, Moonbats. 0020 complaining about penlights, pocket
flashlights. 0026 datestamp as 26 of June YOOLF 2026. 0028 song
request from Dominic: ``All we needed was a radio``, back-announced as
``Radio`` by Rucker. 0033 about BBC closing down longwave about now.
0036 Paul interrupts with a phone call about same, they are running a
message about where to retune. 0040 Allan says ``Radio Australia is
putting in new shortwave transmitters`` -- [Really? Where did you get
that? They quit SW completely several years ago!] Another closedown:
CHU on 22 June. CHU was the first station he heard as a kid dragging a
discarded radio home from a curb, and got it to work. 0047 he is
looking into starting a timesignal service of some kind on the 3265
transmitter; working with the ``Time-Nuts`` group. 0050 Paul writes
that the sound of CHU was included in the movie ``The Empire Strixe
Back``. 0052 WBCQ will do an Independence Day 250th celebration on
July 4 from noon to midnight EDT, on 7490, 5130, 6160 - [why not fire
up the Super-stition on 9330 for this special occasion, so many more
can hear it, I ask]. 0058 says some people DX not only MW, SW, but FM
- June is the time for troposcatter DX, for FM from all over the
country [! doesn`t he know about sporadic E, a totally different
mode?]. Quick wrapup for Hal Turner from 0100 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
UNIDENTIFIED. Re ``La Ley`` on 760: I really suspect it`s KMTL in
Arkansas. If someone close enough could just check them in the
daytime. Glenn
Paul Walker, WY, replies: ``I don`t think it`s KMTL either. A little
sleuthing produced a facebook post tagging them as La Raza back in
March, though the page hasn`t been updated since January. BUT I'll ask
a friend or two who are a repository of Arkansas radio info. A.I. on
Google seem to suggest WLCC was once La Ley, but while it was Spanish,
I can`t find confirmation of that nickname. KMTL is not La Ley, it is
La Raza, and is on a network of stations, 1360 in Clarksville, a 92.3
translator and 92.3 KREU`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
UNIDENTIFIED. 1539.96, June 26 at 0642, LAH = low audible heterodyne
against presumed KXEL 1540. Months ago traced to KGBC Galveston TX,
night power 185 watts. MWOffsets now shows:
``1539.907 KGBC (Galveston, TX) [range: -1539.9983] as of: 2025-02-11
varies Two tx's?`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
UNIDENTIFIED. 1650 kHz, June 26 at 0640 UT, tone again vs English
station; KSVE El Paso? Could a DXer there check this out? (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)
