** ASCENSION. 6135, June 29 at 0532, JBA talk unID language in HSNL.
Could it be the Brasilian pirate, 24h per EiBi, R. Scalla FM? No, BBC
Hausa at 0530-0600 only (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CANADA. 1610 kHz, June 29 at 0515 UT, song seems English, morphing
into Spanish? CHHA Toronto has the `clearest` channel in N America,
except for CHRN Montreal at 1/10 the power, and low-power USTIS. MW
propagation is hot tonight, too bad the storm noise (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 93.1, June 28 at 1604 UT, starting an Es FM DX bandscan
in the car, discover that K226BR, the dratted new translator of 1390
KCRC is on the air again after break of a few days, last heard June
23, stupid sports talk. Can only hope it`s temporary again. 1390 not
to mention its already relay on much more powerful 1640, hardly needs
another duplicate in same city with a much smaller coverage area. It`s
all because FM is the thing now - ``nobody listens to AM!``. Once it`s
on for good, not surprised if they start IDing only as 93.1 FM,
wagging. Ha! it`s off again at 1537 June 29. Bring on the Es (Glenn
Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 95.1, June 29 at 0110, very strong mono gospel huxter
makes me wonder if it`s not Bott`s KQCV Shawnee but Enid KOKJ-LP
activated? It`s not // 94.3, the Bott in KS, as currently on 94.3,
KSPI`s translator Stillwater is heard // 780. But at 0120, 94.3 //
95.1 (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA [and non]. Another vain? search for Es FM DX instead
encounters some outlying stations, June 28 at 2006-2035 UT:

93.7 at 2007, sports talk about Hornets, Bobcats, Charlotte, weak but
steady. Surely not KSPI Stillwater which is rock. Aha, at 2023, it`s
overcome by dead air in $tereo: that must be KSPI which was also
deadairing a few days ago, and the only fit for nearby sports is:

Like Enid is to OKC, Muskogee is to Tulsa, having its radio and TV
stations hijacked into the next larger market.

107.9 at 2013, ``from our Indigo Sky studios``: Indigo Sky Casino is
in Wyandotte OK, extreme NE corner of the state, and only this be
nearby in the 4-corners, clinched by this at 2030, ``Magic 107.9,

Too weak to be sure, but since KOSU is totally MONO, surely KOSN is
too, not specified as such. KOSU has not replied to my inquiry about
no $tereo. However, on website, original notice about upcoming work
dated June 8 we quoted has not been updated, which said, ``We
anticipate the delivery of the new transmitter on or around June 16,
and work will begin immediately on its replacement`` - so maybe not
yet? (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

Ecuador.

Also confirmed UT Monday June 29 from 0304 on Area 51 webcast; as WBCQ

at HQ in Michigan which is EDT. KSNS Medicine Lodge KS. WTFDA FMDB
shows 41 Smile FMs all over MI, mostly lower-powered, but a few
scattered elsewhere in OH, AR, FL, KS. Subslogan on most is
``Michigan`s Positive Hits`` - but not in KS so separate programming?
I never listen long enough to know. KSNS is always mono, not so
specified in FMDB; haven`t I outpointed that before? (Glenn Hauser,

** U S A. 97.3, June 29 at 0115 UT, ``You rock because we rock, US
97``, after national adstring for several minutes, also plugging Joy
101 on iHeart. This is KXUS Springfield MO, 100 kW, the one which
really gets out. As for Joy 101, WTFDA FMDB finds six USA stations
from 100.9 to 101.9 with Joy in their names but not with ``101``, and
none around Springfield (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED [and non]. 760 kHz, June 29 at 0520 UT, Spanish music in
the mix with at least two in English, and another in Spanish? 0528,
``La Ley``. Still seeking to ID this. Slightly better on E/W loop than
N/S wire. But QRM is severe. By 0700 I am intently monitoring for TOH
full ID, after a Bott network station, and 0702 ``Radio La Ley``
mentioned more than once in heavily produced ID by super-hype voice
actor, but I heard NO callsign or location clue. If it`s not 10 kw ND
daytimer KMTL in Sherwood AR, what could it be? KMTL had been ``La
Raza`` but I`ve yet to see any solid confirmation by current day or
night monitoring that it still be that. Some other station
unexpectedly rebranded? The Bott of course, is KCCV Overland Park KS,
even if really only 200 watts at night vs WJR, enough to mess it up
here on the farside (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 869.6 kHz, June 29 at 0516 UT, het upon WWL. Nothing so
far off at mwoffsets (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
