** FRANCE [and non]. 7340, Aug 18 at 1500, carrier has come on S9+20/25 into UTwente with continuous ``knocking`` noise, the usual defective Issoudun, but no Mini-Atlantique modulation. No signal at all on 17545 into Azores SDR. I let 7340 run the entire hour: gradually a trace of modulation appears, and the intonation sounds like the usual French on this broadcast; rather than Kazakh, listed 7340 from XJPBS Urumqi. Music fill starts about 1549 and cut off at 1600* sharp just as timesignal runs from East Turkistan, now in the clear. So is the race over or not? ISSoudun evidently makes no effort to be sure they are getting modulation from the client (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** HAWAI`I. Is WWVH off? Not hearing it via several remotes in HI, NZ, Manila, Jakarta, Japan, HMB. Supposed to be 24/7 on 2.5, 5, 10 and 15 MHz. Jakarta is getting some other timesignal on 10 MHz, presumably BPM. Anchorage has JBA signals from both WWV and WWVH, I think, at 0000 UT. Should become easier to tell into nighttime conditions. As reported before, at 0442 Aug 17 I was getting WWVH only, in well on 15 MHz.
