something is always wrong, but achieves SSOB status with little else

** CUBA. 15140, Sept 7 at 1413, S5/S6 of deadair direct with windhowl,

** CUBA [non]. 11860 & 11930 // 13570 & 13720, Sept 7 at 2201 R.
Mart?, Greenville B, huge signals starting silly baseball talk show,
refers to ``Rep?blica Independiente de Pinar del Rio``, presumably a
joke, or encouraging separatism? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** MADAGASCAR. 11610, Sept 7 at 2159, MWV OC at S9+20/30, 2200 start
instrumental, then vocal music in Arabic. Both Chinese at 21 and
Arabic at 22 are 100 kW at 325 degrees, de-facto N American service
beyond different CIRAFs per HFCC: must be wishful thinking as
parameters are identical. Chinese 27S,28SW,37N = France,Italy,Iberia;
Arabic 38,46NE,47N = Libya,Egypt,Sudan,Chad,Niger. Note HFCC style
forbids spaces after commas. Now and as usual, 11610 is the SSOB
except for the Mart?es and as long as Brasil & Cuba be off (Glenn

** MALI. 5990-5995-6000, Sept 7 at 0603 t/in via Azores SDR, rough
noise blob S9 instead of ORTModulation, but cuts off at 0605.5* --
Rodney Johnson agrees: ``Greetings From Minnesota! Tuned in to strong
"rough noise" @0551z and spot checked again at 0604z and it was still
there, but it cut at 0605z. Unfortunate as conditions seem very

de Vida`` Spanish mention vs English CCI. There are too many USSS on
1460, but broad search on slogan and frequency lead to program on ESPN
Deportes on KENO Las Vegas NV which is U4 10000/620 with CP for U4
10000/320 per NRC AM Log. Am not convinced. SS from Mexico would most
likely be XEYC in Ju?rez (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)": Tim Hall replies:
``You're correct, this is XEYC. "Estilo de Vida" is a program that
airs at Midnight (and sometimes at 6 am) on the first and second Radio
F?rmula networks. This program used to use the "I Dream of Jeannie" TV
theme song by the Hugo Montenegro Orchestra, which made it much easier

** OKLAHOMA. 27184.75, Sept 7 at 2210, Enid CB pirate steady S9 with
no skip, but again failing to modulate by relaying any local FM

** SPAIN. 15500, Sept 7 at 2158, REE N American frequency still
missing, for the 6th day in a row, and 15390 for Africa for the nth
month in a row. Still sufficient on 15520 for ME, and almost on 17715

** TURKEY. 11785, Sept 7 at 2159, no signal from VOT, but recheck at
2201 now it`s on in English but JBA vs noise level, only S9 (Glenn

** U S A. 383 MCW kHz, Sept 7 at 0629 UT, CNP, JBA NDB in HSNL direct.
Copied as CMP but must have been CNP, which per RNA list is 25 watts
in Chappell NE; only unusual one, seldom heard but not new; last

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2363 monitoring: confirmed Sunday
September 6 at 2000 on IRRS SW via AM Italia, 1322.994-, S9 into
UTwente across Europe.
Also confirmed Sunday September 6 at 2157 the 2130 on SW Radio Gold,
Germany, 3974.999+, S9/+5; and 6160.002-, S7+5/10 both into UTwente.
>From next week no more Sunday airings on SWRG, and most of the times
on the other 6 days change.
Also confirmed Sunday September 6 at 2330 on WRMI 9455, S9+35/45 into
Georgia SDR. This time was already on by 2300; however recheck at 2359
something in Portuguese; hope all of WOR aired until 2359.
Also confirmed UT Monday September 7 at 0030 on WRMI 7780, S8/9+10
into S Texas SDR.
Also confirmed starting early at 0256 tune-in UT Monday September 7 to
Area 51 via WBCQ 5130 -92 Hz = 5129.908, S9/+10 into NH SDR - until
0300 chopped for s/off, continuing on A51 webcast.
Also confirmed Monday September 7 from 1930.6 on SW Radio Gold,
Germany, 6160.001-, S9+10 with RTTYditty on plus side unless BW <4
kHz; and clearer 3974.999-, S9+10 both into UTwente. From next Monday
Sept 14 will be at 2231 instead, 3975 only. Next:

UNIDENTIFIED. 773.0 kHz, Sept 7 at 2219 UT daytime, JBA carrier as I
am also finding a non-KSPI one on 780.0. Right on frequency as if
intentional; no match in the area if it were a pair of spurs from
something. At least it`s not on 774 to arouse dreams of transoceanicy
