Indeed! DHCP, now VistA
owes its very existence today to a couple of journalists who investigated and
reported on the doings of the VA back in the early ‘80’s. Henry
Heffernan and Nancy Tomich wrote some hard hitting articles for NAVAP (National
Association of VA Physicians, now NAVAPD as Dentists have joined the group).
It was wild and wooly back then and appears to be heading that way again!

Invitation to Join [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Dear fellow Hardhats,
We have created a mailing list on Yahoo Groups called worldvista-plan.
It is an invitation-only mailing list, in order to block spam, but
anyone who wants to participate is invited.
The purpose of this list is to discuss and design WorldVistA's
organizational plan, which includes such issues as membership, formation
of projects, and how directors are elected, in other words the very
issues that will determine whether WorldVistA is a representative,
community-based organization. The outcome of this discussion will be
the adoption of the resulting organizational plan, creation of new
bylaws that reflect that plan, and the transition from WorldVistA's
current structure to this new, community-designed one. The end result
should be a new organizational structure that will directly support the
Hardhats philosophy and goals, and further the values of the VistA
community worldwide.
We believe the discussion of WorldVistA's mission and organizational
structure has incubated long enough in private, closed discussion
lists. For WorldVistA to develop into an organization that truly
represents the VistA stakeholders, those
stakeholders ought to be
involved in designing the organization. That discussion, although
important to many Hardhats, is tangential enough to our usual business
on this list that I have chosen to start it elsewhere, but anyone who
wants to participate is welcome.
If you are interested in helping ensure WorldVistA becomes the kind of
community organization you want, send me a separate email message off
the Hardhats list and I will send you an invitation to join.
In addition, feel free to forward this invitation to other recipients
who you think might like to be involved in this discussion.
Yours truly,
Rick Marshall
President, WorldVistA
