Unfortunately we did not reverse experiment as our intention that day was to give the demo to a surgeon (from a hospital an hour's drive away) who owns the SP2 machine. He seemed to understand the problem as he had encountered other problems with other applications soon after he patched his machine with the SP2. Was it IBM or somebody who had sent out a warning about encountering errors if patching is done with SP2?

I'll see if I can get to do this experiment this week....

Right. The Delphi-style error message is not obviously XP-related (although
who knows in these complicated systems). You mentioned opening CPRS
successfully from another machine. It might be informative to try the
reverse experiment, where the demo database is mounted on another
achine. --The OR_30_187 executable that I tested with the demo and SP2 is
4,255,232 bytes.

I don't if this would make a difference....we installed on an XP machine
that had already been updated with SP2. I think Molly covered everything
that I can remember.

The client did connect...the CPRS screen launched and a partially filled
in coversheet came up just before it froze.

CPRS connects and works normally using s=localhost p=9300. 3) Install

SP2.

4) Retest in the SP2 environment.

CPRS against the demo dataset with auto-logon worked the same after
installing SP2 as before. There were no errors.

Lloyd,

There is no logon screen as the cprs connects to the demo application.
The error message appears along with the initialization. Then part of
the cprs can be seen with some data of some patients, like you see

nine,

patient but then it "like crash" and the screen freezes. If you close
the cprs, and double click again, another set of numbers come up (I
didn't write them) and the same thing happens.

This can hardly be a coincidence. To have retrieved a FileMan date

the

client must have connected. That would rule out a firewall issue, I

think,

and also rules out a port conflict with client agent as the cause.

Does

the

error occur before or after the logon screen is displayed? I

apologize

if

you have stated this already in another message.

If I may reply on behalf of Joseph for now... we were using

OR_30_187

and doing the usual install of the VA demo and CPRS on the same

machine

which (this time) was running XP SP2. The error message reads
'3040908.151442' is not a valid floating point value. I noticed that

the

numbers change when we tried to reconnect. There was no error when

we

use CPRS from another machine connecting to the same server.

So far we had only come across this problem on one machine which is
already running XP's SP2.

Joseph, I've gone ahead and passed this along to the group in the

that

is looking to do the SP2 install. They'd like more details: what

is

problem you're having, what version of CPRS is it, etc. Maybe we can

get

one fixed at the source. Thanks!

Chuck

If anyone else is having trouble with CPRS and XP's SP2, I'm sure

the

group would like to know about it.
