I am not that impressed with CDC's ability to produce usable software. Many years ago George Timson developed a simple Fileman application (we did not even have menu manager back then) for TB Registry for SF County TB Clinic. CDC has attempted to produce software to replace that FM application over the years, first with DBASE II, then with Access. To this day, SF TB Clinic is still using the FM Based application with no CDC software replacement in sight.

The CDC has software for a pediatric immunizations that is supposed to test a child's record of immunizations and tell what immunizations are needed. It appears to have been completed in 2000 and it is no longer going to be supported by them, if it ever was supported. A complete algorithm for pediatric immunization would be complex to say the least and I do not know exactly how much this software covers and if it includes things like the child's current health status, etc. If this is good and can be maintained and updated, VB or not, it would be very valuable and might be something we could convert to Java or something that will allow cross platform use. Anyway, I think there are files missing so I am trying to get those and a chance to talk to the programmer, so let me see how I do with that and then I will get back to all of you. There is some information about it here, but there is also a page with a description of an algorithm where they were soliciting programs and I can't find it right now. If and when I find it, I will post it as I gathered that this program satisfied that algorithm. http://www.cdc.gov/nip/registry/tech.htm#soft look under Programmers' Guide to the Automated Immunization Evaluation Process - Version 2.0 (Reviewed 10/10/2001) You can actually download the exe file and see if you agree with me that stuff is missing here: http://www2.cdc.gov/nip/sw-registration/algo-reg.asp Just fill it in and it takes you right to the page for the download. Or I can set up a server for you to get the *.exe file off of tonight. Although you have to install it to get the files, it appears that they were all supposed to be there and I think they aren't, but I would be happy to be found wrong. The person who I talked to at the CDC thought they were all there. On Monday 08 November 2004 11:08 am, Pat wrote: > Send it this way too Nancy.
