I just installed the OpenVistASemiVivAVADemo0.1 and I see that the encryption
 for access code and verify code and sig has been removed and replaced with
 nothing. See routines ^XUSHSH and ^XUSHSHP. I believe that that has always
 been the case for FOIA released VistA. Earlier versions of ^XUSHSH in
 OpenVistA applied a simple hashing algorithm that at least prevented storage
 of access codes and verify codes in clear text.

We have a little library function in VMACS that does strong md5 password
 encryption using standard encryption utilities included with Linux. This is
 included with M2Web but not yet tied in to the VA utilities.
