Hey all.

Happy New Year!

Quick question about patient registration. I know
that there is a menu option that walks one through a
patient registration process. However, because we
will not be using VistA for our billing side, I don't
plan on keeping demographics up to date in VistA.
Thus all I want to input for registering a patient is:
Name, DOB, SEX, SSN and possible 1-2 other fields.

We are in the process of bringing up a billing
software package, and we are going to have to
re-register all our patients in the new system (too
much bad data in the old system to want to port it
over). I mention this because my staff is going to be
hassled if they have to wade through a registration
process TWICE for every patient. So I want to make
VistA registration as easy as possible. (And yes,
there should be a way to automate porting data from
one system to another, but right now I think that
would be too complicated for me to tackle)

So here's my question, how can I ask for just these
few fields for registration? Which of these options
would be best?

1. Write a custom program that does a register myself?
2. Figure out how to use screenman and make a input
form.
3. Figure out if there is some sort of input template
method that screens out all the spurious questions
that a standard register intails.

Thanks
Kevin
