Rod,

Welcome to the board.

I agree with what Joseph has written below. A couple
extra point though...

1. The VistA code base is huge. We all desire to take
this code and turn it into something as easy to
install as your favorite Windows application. The
problem is that there are many factors that complicate
this process. There isn't as much infrastructure
here. I have a configuration script that works on my
system, that does all the configuration work needed to
get one's own system working. The problem is that I
am working full speed to get my office up on VistA, so
I don't currently have time to debug it fully for use
on other's system. But eventually I will have time to
come back to it.

So if VistA is something you are interested in, you
are going to have to roll your sleeves up and play a
bit with the code.

I have found the board here to be VERY supportive.
But most of the gurus here are working with
established systems, and may not have as much
first-hand experience with bringing systems online
from the ground up. Nancy Antracite is probably the
board's best resource for getting newbie's like us up
and going.

I strongly support your interest in extending
documentation for newbies. If you have any
suggestions for my website, let me know and I can add
your changes.

Again, Welcome!

Kevin T.
