Some of the newer routers have a feature to let you define a mapping of
the MAC address to a fixed IP. This way, your router will assign a
known IP when your computer connects to the router, without you having
to set the computer up for static IP. I use this feature to guarantee
the IP that my printer, server, etc. are assigned. Kevin Toppenberg wrote: My router uses the term "DMZ" to indicate a computer 'outside the firewall.' It means that any signal that would otherwise be blocked is automatically sent to the DMZ computer. You might have a problem if your computer gets a new IP address from the router every time it boots up (i.e. dynamic IP addressing), as you would have to change the IP address of the DMZ computer each time. The only way to access a VistA server over the Internet that I know of is if it is outside the fire wall. When you have your router connected instead of connecting directly to your modem, you are inside a firewall and do not have a routable IP. Most routers have a setting to allow you to put your individual computer outside of the firewall. find out your computers IP, if it is a Linux machine use /sbin/ifconfig and if a Windows machine use Strart- Run-CMD-IPconfig and find your IP, something like 192.168.0.101 and then configure your router to put that outside of the firewall. Hopefully, the individual computer has a software firewall installed that you can configure to have an opening only for CPRS so that your computer is not vulnerable to attack. My question has to due with CPRS and Delphierrors. I am working on VistAover an internet connection. I am encountering acouple of problems.1.) I can access CPRS as long as my router isdisconnected, but when myrouter (netgear wireless G) is connected I get atimeout error(WSAETIMEDOUT) and don't even get connected toenter an access/verificationcode. Is there some security setting thatinterferes with CPRS? My routercurrently has the following protocols: NAT, SPI,DoS, IDS, WEP encryptionand some other wireless security. 2.) I get an error trying to access sometemplates. When I get into CPRSand click on the notes tab and then the templatessection. When I click onsome templates an error comes up and my window isclosed. Following is theerror message: Error encountered. Function was:recv Error was: 10107and when I hit OK button I get the following errorError encountered.Function was: recv Error was: 6.
