Agree with the nuisance factor. And systems that have that sort of
bureaucratic obstruction have seen their time. Biometric technology is in
the pipeline to rapidly antiquate the whole debate. Already my wife has an
inexpensive device that recognizes fingerprint for login of multiple users.
Retinal scanners and a whole array of biometric recognition promise to
revolutionize the field. Then you may not be able to let someone else use
your login ID - unless u cut off a finger..;-)

[KSB] Actually, fingerprints are not hard to fake.  See
http://www.deeperwants.com/cul1/homeworlds/journal/archives/000048.html for 
example (the results appeared in many places; this happens to be what Google 
pulled up for me).

Retinal and iris scans are harder to forge.  But the weak link is not the 
technology - it is the people.  Read Bruce Schneier's very readable "Secrets 
and Lies" sometime.
