Oh, I see. An older method of sending mail was to use telnet to run SMTP. This is really obsolete today.

I traced through the code and it gives me a 220 error,
and then appears to be establishing enq/ack
communication with something.  It goes into an
infinate loop of trying to flush some buffer and then
reconnect.
