Take a look at EasyDNS. I use that to maintain my OpenSourceVistA.net file server on a dynamic IP and it works quickly and nicely. There are free alternatives which I have not tried as this was recommended by a trusted source, and he seem to have been correct! The failures have been my ISP or my server or my power, not EasyDNS.

Unfortunately VPN hasn't proven to be a viable option, my ISP doesn't provide static IP addresses (at least not at a price I can justify). My attempts to connect via the leased IP address I get from IPCONFIG before I leave at night fails, and the next morning I find that the address has changed. I'm pleased to hear that it is possible to move the installation. The KIDS method (which I know next to nothing about) sounds interesting since it seems to allow for a trail of incremental builds that can be used to abandon failed steps. I'm not ready to do it yet but I'll ask for help when the time comes.
