The default behavior for GT.M is not to permit null subscripts.  While
it is easy enough to be able to use null subscripts (see
http://www.sanchez-gtm.com/user_documentation/targets/GTM_Null_Subscripts.html),
 my understanding is that the VistA database schema rules are that null 
subscripts are not permitted.  Therefore, I would guess that you have a problem 
with database consistency at the application level.
