Thanks for this great response Nancy. I really appreciate you taking the time. I will continue to look through this and the other stuff at the GMU site.

Look on the course web site under the syllabus for the links to her PowerPoint slides and this tool. Right now it has the cost elements done but not the savings, but it is getting there. for the course http://gunston.doit.gmu.edu/healthscience/740/default.asp for the tool in development <http://gunston.doit.gmu.edu/healthscience/740/CostOfEHR/CostOfEHR_media/Cos tOfEHR.swf> There are no transcripts of the interviews, but I am not sure that they targeted what you are interested in. In addition, some of the information the docs are not likely to want to publicize. You will understand when you see some of the questions. One of the exciting things about working on this course is that with a few exceptions, everything that is available in as a Power Point or Word document and sometimes as a video or a Camtasia presentation is put on the web site for anyone too use. This is like "open source" college. I am thrilled with the support we have been getting from everyone I have asked to come lecture and to help. It has been a wonderful opportunity to pull together the open source and vendor community to work on a VistA related project. This is only scratching the surface of what GMU hopes to do. It has also been a learning exercise for all of us, student and teachers alike. One student commented that Dr. Alemi and I sound like an old married couple as we debate our way through the process. The students have hung in there and the rumor is that interest in the course and the potential masters program is building. I invite you to take a look and keep coming back as the web site changes frequently. This would be a big help to a neophyte (like me) to learn about the interface between the docs and VistA. We have one more student who needs a doc to interview. It is a telephone interview and will probably take 60-90 minutes and need not be all in one call.
