My desktop is secure with anti virus, anti mallware, backups and I
don't do the kind of things that gets less sophisticated users in
trouble.. i.e. social media, lack of online knowledge, cracks, or
problematic sites etc.
However, I am thinking about using a VM as a dedicated safe
platform for sensitive online tasks.. for example banking,
insurance, credit card management, and payments. This way I could
just run the VM from my desktop, but also take it with me on a laptop
when necessary. I could encrypt the VM instead of a entire laptop
drive. I could even run it from a very fast flash drive. I could also
isolate the VM from the Primary OS and not use the VM for web
browsing or anything else thus reducing my risk from malware, virus
or whatever. Does this make sense... comments please.
If you think it is a good idea then what OS should I use Win 7..
8..10 or may Ubuntu? How should I handle security within the VM..
what browser, I am thinking IE fully patched because it is the one
browser all financial institutions expect, and support, and updates
and patches are kept current and regular.. do I really need to use
paid for anti malware, anti virus in a closed platform like this? Thanks
