Just recently both internet and TV went wonky (Cox) and we have two
sessions of service agents come through the house. A lot of what they
said didn't make sense, but, in the end, things are working better. The
big negative is that I'm getting hit with a $75 charge each time they
come over, so I don't want this to happen again.
So I want to cut through all the BS and learn what I need to know about
'compatible' connectors, splitters, 'Radio Shack' cables -- really
everything I need to know about routing cable through the
house--especially 'noise'. I reason I put all these things in quotes is
because these 'agents' spouted a lot of 'old-technician' tales.
However, in the end, changing a few connectors fixed the problem. I
suspect, however, that everything is pretty marginal, so I want to get
the stuff in my house clean so that I can nail Cox next time.
I've tried searching the 'net, but I'm not getting any real information
and whatever I find contains a lot of garbage. Does anyone have any
links to good sites about cabling your house?
Thanks....Steve
