I have been running Dropbox for a decade on different PCs and never
had a problem. Recently I started seeing a notice that
Error String: You're using an old version of Dropbox. Please update
within the next 6 days to continue using Dropbox
I have downloaded DropboxInstaller.exe and when that wouldn't run I
downloaded Dropbox 3.10.11 Offline Installer.exe . Neither update
will load, or run. I have been trying to get this to install for over
a week.I have tried downloading clean versions. I have turned off the
firewall, disabled MS Defender, and Malwarbytes. Tried running it as
Administrator. No good. Dropbox update won't load, run, or install.
Double click or select run as administrator, and nothing happens.
I have tried uninstalling it using Revo Uninstaller for a through
removal... cleaning up with CCleaner, and then rebooting but it
didn't help and now it won't install. No error message just refuses
to load. I should still have a few days left so I restored the
backup I made prior to removing it but after a reboot Dropbox won't
let me log in to the desktop without updating which won't load.
Is there a way I can go in and remove all traces of Dropbox in the
registry without having to manually do it? Any other ideas?
