Switch to IMAP (from POP3) --My guess is that they just move all mail
classified as spam/bulk to a private IMAP folder.

I traced the recent problems to my provider. One of their new "features"
is that they now apply their own spam filters to my e-mail and I have to
go through webmail to find all the messages they are classifying as spam,
which turned out to be about 1/3 of the list mail.
