This is 8 months old but, even so,  it will give you a good understanding of the issues, and the available technologies. I like Plasma too because of the size, and the intensity of the colors, but, according to the writer, if you have the space you will save some bucks and get a better picture from big glass

recently purchased a Panasonic Plasma 42 HDTV...........OUTSTANDING! The EDTV is also great.

Since you started this thread:

Is plasma or LCD better:

If you are buying HDTV.

If HDTV is not an issue.

And to show my ignorance, does both plasma and LCD come in HDTV?

Sound will not be an issue as all I will need is a variable control stereo line output for sound. I have always used my stereo system for audio listening. If the line output was not variable, I could use my stereo amplifier remote volume control.

I realize any advice you give may be obsolete before I can afford a fancy TV set.

As always, go to Circuit City in person to do your research and write down your model numbers. Then go to www.onecall.com to make your purchase and save big bucks. I love Panasonic. At One Call I saved $300.00 over the local Circuit City price on a Sony 21" LCD TV that looks like a computer monitor. If I remember correctly I got free shipping on that, also and did not have to pay local State Sales Tax of 7%.
