Hi again,
Yeah, I know it's a pain to get things working properly (I'm so close!),
but this system has *so* much setup the way I want it that it would take
forever to rebuild... Anyway, background processes include things like NVIDIA
firewall, VNC Server, McAfee, SSH Server, FTP Server, mouse controls, etc...
I've tried with most of that disabled but should do some more... I don't think
there was anything in the event log, but I'll check again later at home.
warpmedia, I'm included to think the same thing as you - except that I'm
not accessing the CD / DVD drive when playing back video clips or playing some
of the games that have exhibited the problem :( ...but with that hang when
starting a DVD burn I have to wonder! My optical drives are on a separate
channel from my hard drives.
Stan, I don't really see anything in Task Manager out of the ordinary,
but I'll look closer next time I see the skipping when playing back DVDs or
videos since they're not taking up the whole screen.
Julian, things are going great with the family (looking forward to
spending more time with them). My son's 2 1/2 now - can't believe it. How are
things going for you? Nice to see you're still here. Take care,
        --Kyle Yamnitz
