Sure, and AMD could do another price cut (though this seems likely to be the
pre-Conroe cut...).
Conroe will debut with very, very reasonable pricing. The 1.86 will be just
over $200, and the E6600, already looking to beat the $1000 FX-62, will be
only $316.
And, the dual core P-D 805 is only $124 right now. :)
I think one of the greatest things about Conroe is that it should force AMD
to reset its pricing structure to something more reasonable.... the X2
pricing is insane.

That is nice :). One hitch though. One of these price cuts occurred today
the other happens 45 days away :)

And on July 23rd, Intel drops the Pentium D 805 to $93.
Dual core for <$100...I think that's far more impressive.

CHIP FIRM AMD has kicked into price cuts today by slashing prices on 939
and AM2 sockets.
Distributor prices seen by the INQ show that the Athlon 64 3000 will cost
$89, the 3200 $99, the 3500 $109, and the 3800 $139. In the last case,
that's a 50 per cent drop.
(From The Inquirer).
Confirmed.
