It really depends. local.live.com has actually higher resolution, higher zoomed images of major metropolitain areas, especially on the east coast. So far nothing can touch the "birds eye view" images that live offers. Mapquest as far as I can tell licenses the same imagery taken mostly in 2002 that google uses as well.

Take for instance the overhead shots of FedEx field, the location where 92,000 peopel assemble each week to see the washington redskins lay an egg on the field. With live, you can actually see the egg.

live.com: http://local.live.com/default.aspx?v=2&cp=38.907659~-76.864466&style=h&lvl=19&scene=6565568

live.com bird's eye: http://local.live.com/default.aspx?v=2&cp=qgj5z18kv4h5&style=o&lvl=2&scene=6565568&sp=Point.qgj4nr8kv4v7_Fedex%20Field%20Bird%27s%20Eye___

Google: http://www.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=1600+Fedex+way,+landover+md&ie=UTF8&z=19&ll=38.907647,-76.864364&spn=0.001505,0.003369&t=k&om=1

Mapquest: http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?formtype=address&country=US&popflag=0&latitude=&longitude=&name=&phone=&level=&addtohistory=&cat=&address=1600+FedEx+way&city=landover&state=md&zipcode=

So in this case, mapquest's images stink. Poor resolution from all levels of zooming. If you want any closer levels of zooming then what is offered from live's bird's eye I suggest you hire a PI or join the CIA.

Thanks Hayes!! I had found this one. But I would like something that will get a little closer than this. This one gets as close as the Mapquest one gets. That's nice, but I need to get a little closer. Where are all of the ones
we see in the movies?? They wouldn't be lying to us, would they??

Today is a moment for you to clip yet another strand from
the rope of earth, so that when he returns you won't be tied up.
