I got my new drive today (500GB SATA) and after enabling the promise controller in the BIOS, the system saw the drive fine. I am performing a Ghost backup at the moment and Ghost estimates 73 minutes to back up 68GB from a PATA drive to the SATA drive. Before, it took over 5 hours to back up 100GB to another PATA drive. That comes out to .93GB/min for the new drive and .33GB/min for the older drive. I guess the different busses make a big difference.
