My whole computer room is twice as quiet right now with the Snap turned
off..

Playing with the new D_Link DNS-323 I just got, 320 gigs of RAID 1 storage.
RAID 1 is mirrored, so a whole drive is wasted, but I got two 3-year
warranty 320 gig WD SATA drives for only 79 bucks each. Sorta makes it
worth it.

Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD3200AAKS 320GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA
3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM 79.00

My much older Snap Server used to max out at 29-30 Mbps data transfer rate,
pretty close to the theoretical ATA IDE speed of 33 Mbps transfer rate.

This new one is doing 90 Mbps right now, almost has the whole Ethernet 100
Mbps switch and pipe full. And it's been sustained, it's been running at
89-90 Mbps now for 20-30 minutes according to Task Manager.

Cool beans..

Plus this one only cost like 380 bucks, whereas the Snap was 2500 when new.
:)

My my how times change...
