Perhaps, though my theory is........if you receive email or connect to the internet in any way, things can happen. If she shuts off her firewall by accident, it gives that inexpensive protection that cannot be turned off accidentally. Just my 2 pennies.

Yes it does, but under these circumstances I don't think she needs it.



All of my remaining customers(I am retired) that have broadband have hardware firewalls and all the other stuff. I'm not all that familiar with DSL but don't they furnish Cisco 675, or similar routers, with hardware firewalls?
