Well I just was in the position of needed an external 3.5 case so I searched and agonized, finally choosing to get a IcyDock & a AMS Venus DS3. I tested the no-fan Icy first and found it ran <40C under continous disk usage for hours so I put the unopened fan equiped DS3 up on eBay.
Would recommend either brand, with emphasis on the Icy since it's got a removable tray that can be docked into a mutli-drive PC bay made by them. These were SATA to SATA+USB cases but they also make IDE models and ones that are Firewire+USB. About $50+S&H from NewEgg and elsewhere. The one I used was cheap, probably not the best solution. :'( > fp > > ____________________________________________________________________________________ Luggage? GPS? Comic books?
