It's unfortunate you've had so much trouble with Logitech mice. Microsoft has driven enough businesses out of business over the years and I'll support any company that produces quality competitive products. There is no viable competitor to a Microsoft OS and therefore I use them exclusively. That assures that Microsoft won't go out of business anytime soon because I joke about not sending them any money. :)

Stan,
MS mice work out of the box w/standard default MS Mouse driver. (or they are DOA, and gracefully replaced by my local source).

You do use a MS OS don't you? Yes, I chafe at the cost of Win7pro also; but, I keep saving.

I've had trouble w/Logitech mice against the default MS Mouse driver. I'm not a gamer either. Never seen a scroll-wheel failure. My MS mice run to "left-click" death. Current MS optical is 20 months old; already loosing its' silk-screening!
I do so enjoy NOT cleaning Ball Rollers any more.
Different strokes for different folks............. :)

Logitech MX-518 is full size, corded, glitch-free, built like a tank and damn good looking too. Check out the reviews on the Egg. Don't give your cash to MS. LOL

Yeah, that $20 corded mouse sounds like a winner for that application. I have noticed other problems with my cordless too, but just doing regular desktop work.

If you game you don't want cordless even with the advancements in tech. I gamed for months with my cordless mouse and mostly it worked just fine but there were plenty of times that it would act up. I don't have a definitive answer why but my best guess is that it has something to do with Windows and the USB ports. That goes for both Vista and Windows 7 because both of them exhibited the same problem which is quite distracting when you are fragging enemies and your mouse becomes unresponsive.

Anyone have a desktop mouse recommendation? I'd prefer a full sized mouse, but don't need a zillion buttons. Hopefully, the scroll wheel won't crap out like mine is doing now. USB wireless or bluetooth is fine.
