Older Dell 4400 came in with the read error press ctrl-alt-del to restart bug. flashing the bios fixed the communication error ( drive tested OK with WD utilities)
System will not write a page file, advanced settings shows pagefile set. even added a second drive and set the PF to that. No Joy. Cloned drive to a new drive. no joy. ( really no joy :-D ) Even tried let windows handle it.
I am at a lost. I tried a repair install, again no luck. Either this system has a serious problem that a clean install may or may not fix. Will be My next effort with a spare drive.
on boot system says swap file is not there or too small. Enabling show hidden files, it is not there. Even for grins wrote a pagefile.sys file with no luck. System is really slow to boot but once in works OK I guess. (1.6 P4)
open for suggestions. will google tomorrow and see if I can come up with some ideas. May just try a clean install too see if it is the OS or a hardware problem of some kind.
