I run ADSL at home. I used to use a all in one gateway, but I had issues,
so I bought a DSL modem and a router only.

Now, I have further split my network out into the following:

DSL Modem <============= WRT54GL (Running Tomato for
Routing)<============ASUS RTN-56U acting as an Access Point only.

Right now, the WRT54GL is dishing out the DHCP stuff and doing the QOS and
what not. I haven't really had any problems, but beofre introducing the
WRT54GL, I had just the ASUS RTN-56U and things were fine also. But I have
noticed a bit more improvement in congested situations (i.e. lots of people
torrenting, youtube and browsing) due to the superior QOS in Tomato.

So my question is:

Is there tangible merit in the above method? Or should I scrap the WRT54GL
and keep just the ASUS RTN-56U?

Thanks as always for the help.
