Ah...it came with a version of Arcsoft that doesn't do BD, but does play
DVD..and they want you to update to a version that plays BD? Software
that plays BD has to maintain the protected path, and usually that means
playing extra for software to handle that.
If you do buy something, check ebay first. Someone there was selling
powerdvdultra11 for #25...after you buy it, you get an email saying its
a download and what you get sent is a key...I thought it was kinda shady
to make it seem like you're buying a disc only to find out it is
something else...so I turned it down. But there are other deals on that
for a bit more. You don't really need 11 ultra either...one of the
older versions that supports BD will work too (though you may lose high
def sound). Compare against an upgrade to Arcsoft.

I tried it and it errored back. I downloaded a patch for the software and it
errored out saying my software wasn't eligible to be patched. The actual player
is Arcsoft Total Media Theater.
This plays it like a BD - menus and everything.
Now that dvdfabs passkey is on MPC plays it but goes right to the flick.
FFDShow comes up with it now but it did not before passkey was in place.
No Nero or Corel on board, seems that Arcsoft is the package. Total Media
Extreme.

I just read a review on this device...hard to believe they don't mention
it won't play a BD without paying extra to do so. Are you sure you
looked carefully at the software on there? It may not be obvious what
plays BD. Corel has a version of WinDVD that plays BDs...even Nero has a
program that plays BDs but they seem to hide that fact..and it won't pop
up if you load in a BD.
Get MakeMKV and rip the BD to MKV and using Windows Home Cinema to play
it. Pull off a sound format this PC can handle.
