On your final comment, I fully concur.
I do so hate being driven by apps I do not use.
I accept more of this behavior to follow until
FF/Chrome reach some agreement. Maybe never likely?

On the one hand I am happy to see FF trying to keep their product
current. On the other
hand it is sad that all this new browser (well, and, email code) code
seems to have a
user life of ~6 weeks at best!
I blame Google and Chrome. :)
