Yes, resolution now takes time. I suspect either denial, or, complexity.
I'm older, so, no harm no foul ATM.
I do still recall a WU patch in May that caused trouble all thru June for
me and many others. I did manage to fix this to my happiness.
Now, in July, MS ships in a WinUpdate Engine update that seems to be
doing the same game again.............. I have 2 clients at one level, and,
2 clients at another level.
Windows Update Engine v7.6.7600.256
Windows Update Engine v7.4.7600.226
Fine. Windows continues to confound, mystify, and confuse any meager
attempt by me to grasp much. I begin to believe my 'techie' days are
mostly over. I am just a daily user hanging on to a belief I may still be
a 'prosumer!' LOL!
Best,
Duncan

Thane,
Thank you for this share. What goes around comes around. I now
recall all
the well reasoned discussions about WHY all of us HWG techies needed
to move
into the future and all become MAC folks. Well, that's my memory
recall.
Nice to see that Apple has the same grumble this Windows user has
lived with
his entire PC life. Apple is maturing, and, now dealing with grief
this Collective
has discussed in the past about Windows.
I am painfully giggling ATM!!!!!!!!
Even though it offers zero help to your current trouble. Sorry!
Well, Apple finally fixed the problem, apparently. Nothing like
resolving the problem quickly.
