Okay, so I've not been very clear again. By 'any' folder, I meant, any folder but the one Tbird puts it's mail into. I actually have a 'Mail' folder just under the root of C: which I move mail to (in Tbird) that I wish to save.

Normally, yes, but he's started using the new install and rightly woried
about overwriting the new with old loosing new in process.

Hence my suggestion to rename folders on the old version and then copy them
over because that should result in merge. Backup both sides before doing
the changes obviously.

Having done this a few times, if you copy over the mail from the old
machine into any folder on the new machine, then point Tbird to it as local
folders.

I would guess as long as none of the folder names match between the 2
installs you'd end up with separate folders under the profile, at which
point you could move things around within TB on 2nd system.

Is there a way to import mail from one computer to another in
Thunderbird?
Normally I'd just copy the profile, but the new computer has been used
for
several days so there's already email in it, and I don't want to lose
that
email.
