-Tom -------- Forwarded Message -------- Date: Tue, 1 Nov 2016 08:04:11 -0400 From: Chuck Tanowitz <[email protected]> ... On November 19th the Newton FIRST Robotics team is hosting a Mini Maker Faire as part of its Lego Robotics competition. ... Last year we had hundreds of kids and parents interacting with a number of hands-on activities and also buying products. We had participation from companies like iRobot and RoboSail, which teaches kids who can sail how to program by using robotic sailboats. We also had 3D printers provided by the local libraries. The Mini Maker's Faire is for exhibitor participants with something to show or demo OR a hands-on activity to do with students OR STEM focused school and community programs and clubs. This year the Mini Maker Faire, will take place Saturday, November 19th, during the regional First Lego League (FLL) Competition hosted at Newton North. The Mini Maker Faire we ran last year was a great success. -We are expecting up to 36 FLL teams from Greater Boston, and 4-6 FLL Jr. Demo Teams (an estimated 300 students plus parents, coaches and mentors). -There will also be high school students (The LigerBots) and team parents, coaches and mentors. -We also invite the community to come watch (and to come to the Mini Maker Faire.) ... Hope you can join us! Thanks!
