PART-TIME REFERENCE ASSISTANT

The Center for Jewish History, composed of 5 research libraries focusing on 
Jewish Studies, seeks a library or graduate student P/T to coordinate 
reference services for its joint Reading Room from mid October 2003 through 
February 1, 2004. Duties include registration of new patrons and tracking 
patrons, conducting initial reference interviews, and orienting and aiding 
patrons with catalogs, electronic resources, and microfilm 
equipment.  Excellent opportunity for an MLS/MLIS candidate or MA/PhD 
candidate in Jewish Studies.  Required: A pleasant demeanor and the ability 
to work well with the public in a busy environment.  Preferred: candidates 
with basic computer skills, experience working with the public and 
library/archival materials, familiarity with Hebrew, Yiddish, German, 
and/or Slavic languages.  Salary:  $14.00/hour.  Mon. - Thurs. (hours to be 
arranged).
