I was having the same problem as Elizabeth---I couldn't open the ALJ/SSC
brochure, or many other .PDF files, on my computer. I found the solution
on the Adobe/Acrobat Reader User Forum.

Open Acrobat Reader 6. Under "Edit," click "Preferences." Highlight
"Internet." Then unclick "Display PDF in Browser." Reboot your computer.
The documents should open properly after this. (And they sure look like
they're opening in my browser. Go figure.)

The problem is apparently caused by an incompatibility between Windows
XP, Internet Explorer, and Acrobat Reader 6 when documents are prepared
in a non-Adobe .PDF format.
