I found "We Just Want to Live Here" terrible. I believe it is a lie based on a lie. The book is promoted as a conversation between two friends, but in fact the two girls were barely acquainted and were put together by the editor for the purpose of the book. The Jewish girl's family is from the farthest left-wing group, a Marxist-Communist organization, with no feeling and no knowledge of the Jewish religion or Jewish claims to the land. The overall picture is that the Israeli government doesn't represent the people; the government is evil and repressive and violent, and the Jews are as powerless against it as the Arabs are. There is almost no historical context. This is a political piece written by left-wingers with a left-wing agenda. I haven't read "A Little Piece of Ground" so I can't compare them, but this is bad enough.
