The Strauss Holocaust Memorial Fund, publishers of "Carved in Granite" by Rabbi Alvin M. Poplack, announces availability of the book, free of charge to accredited Jewish Libraries. The volumeis a narrative and photographic record of over 150 Holocaust monuments on 14 Jewish cemeteries in the Greater New York area. These memorial "matzevos", discovered by the author, were erected especially by landsmanschaften, butalso by individuals and families.
The book has been endorsed by leading scholaars of the Holocaust, among them Prof. Elie Wiesel, Rabbi "Yitz" Greenberg, Prof.Yaffa Eliach, Rabbi Marvin Hier, and Dr. Michael Berenbaum. It is also recommended by Rositta Kenigsberg of the Holocaust Documentation and Education Center as "an invaluable resource to document the facts of the Holocaust and to refute those who seek to deny that it happened".
