Sam I Am by Ilene Cooper and Praying to A. L. by Judith Caseley are very good. Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret by Judy Blume is, of course, a classic. Kaddish for Grandpa in Jesus' Name, Amen by Howe is insulting to Jews and I don't believe it should be used. For younger children, a picture book entitled Jalapeno Bagels by Natasha Wing is a better choice.
