Pitspopany Press has several young adult novels (ages 10-14 but could go older). The two newest are both historical novels with wonderful characters and well-researched period detail.
FALL OF THE SUN GOD by Henye Meyer is the story of a young boy's search for his identity during the Crusades. He hides his Jewishness for self-preservation after he becomes orphaned and learns weaponry and fighting techniques. Eventually he is befriended by Jews who show him the way back to his faith. THE CONVERSO LEGACY by Sheldon Gardner is the story of a young peddler who comes to the US during the 1800s and travels farther and farther west to seek his fortune. It is a story of interfaith co-operation and has plenty of wild west action as well as the story of the Spanish Conversos who were forced to give up their faith during the Inquisition.
