The Shofars of the Revolt, by Zev Golan, published this month by the Jabotinsky Institute in Israel, tells of the members of Brit Habirionim, Betar and the Irgun who set out every Yom Kippur from 1930-1947 to blow the shofar at the Kotel despite the British prohibitions. The book includes interviews with dozens of the young men who blew the shofars, young and elderly women who smuggled shofars and the commanders who coordinated the operations, beginning with Rabbi Moshe Segal in 1930; it tells the stories of their actions, arrests, escapes from jail, deportations to Africa and other Underground operations they were involved in.
