This search requires several steps.

First use ProQuest  (or another data base that allows you to search 
the New York Times Magazine.)

Second limit your search to the NY Times Magazine.

Third look at the list of specific issues.

Fourth choose an issue.

Look at the table of contents.  The "Lives" column has a different 
name every week.  Remember the name of the column for that 
week.  Return to the list of articles.  Click on the title that you 
remembered from the previous step.

Many public and academic libraries offer ProQuest. Ebsco indexes the 
NT York Times, but this kind of search is much harder since you would 
need to know a title or author. Since I don't know what libraries you 
have access to, I can't tell you the exact steps.
