New Bible Encyclopedia Catalogues 3,000 Characters from A to Z

Who's Who in the Jewish Bible is much more than a standard reference
book. From Aaron to Zurishaddai, this unique volume tells the stories
of each of the 3,000 people mentioned in the Jewish Bible. Whether
famous or not so famous, every character is here: patriarchs and
prophets, warriors and peace-makers, kings and queens, holy men and
sinners, heroes and villains. As the most comprehensive source on the
subject, this book is a fascinating, informative, and indispensable
tool for general readers and scholars, students and educators alike.

With biographical entries arranged in a convenient A to Z format,
Who’s Who in the Jewish Bible details each character’s life as a
single, continuous story, in many cases drawing together information
that is scattered over large stretches of biblical text. Entries are
ordered and numbered according to the person’s first appearance in
the Bible and accompany commentary on the origin and meaning of the
character’s name as well as estimated dates when he/she lived. All
entries correspond to the Jewish Publication Society’s acclaimed translation.

Unlike other biblical anthologies, Who’s Who in the Jewish Bible
stands alone in using only the Bible as its basis – without
extra-biblical stories, theological interpretations, or other
secondary source additions. Flip through its pages for a quick
reference check or read it straight through, and discover the
fascinating stories of men and women whose lives, teachings, and
sayings continue to influence and impact our lives.
