Position:  Processing Archivist (two positions).

Project:  The Center for Jewish History has received a grant to 
arrange and describe archival collections relating to the history and 
culture of the Jewish people.  These are grant funded positions that 
are full-time for a three year period

Duties:  Will arrange and describe archival collections, recommend 
basic preservation work, assign access points for the collections, 
and encode finding aids in EAD. These positions report to the Senior 
Project Archivist.

Required Qualifications: Masters Degree in history or library science 
with formal coursework in archival theory and management.  Ability to 
create EAD finding aids. Must be organized and able to work 
accurately.   Must have word processing skills as well as good 
writing and verbal skills.

Language Requirement:  Ability to read one or more of the languages 
frequently found in the collections: Yiddish, German, Russian, or 
Polish.   Note: There is the possibility to waive completion of the 
Master's degree for candidates with Yiddish or German language capability.

Desirable Qualifications: One-year experience working in an archives 
or equivalent coursework and internship experience.  Course work in 
Jewish history and culture.  Familiarity with the MARC format, 
Encoded Archival Description, XML, XMetaL, stylesheets, NoteTab, and MS Access.

Salary:  $40,000 plus regular CJH benefits package.
